Permanent Residency Visas (Skilled & Employer Sponsored)
Secure Long-Term Stability for Skilled Workers Through PR Sponsorship
For many skilled overseas workers and the employers who rely on them, Permanent Residency (PR) is the ultimate goal. At Resource Visa, we help Australian businesses transition eligible employees from temporary sponsorship (482 or Skills in Demand) to permanent residence through the Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS). Whether you’re planning or have a team member ready for PR now, we make the process simple, compliant, and aligned with your business goals.
Note: For exceptional global talent (e.g., high-profile researchers, executives, or innovators), please see our National Innovation Visa (Subclass 858) page.
Why Support Permanent Residency?
Primary PR Visa – Subclass 186 Employer Nomination Scheme
- Recently became an approved Standard Business Sponsor
- Are hiring more than 2 sponsored workers
- Want to avoid Fair Work or Home Affairs compliance breaches
- Are expanding into regional, offshore, or multi-state operations
- Need to formalise recruitment and visa processes
Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream
For workers who have held a 482 or SID visa and worked in the same role for at least 2 years.
- Must have worked full-time in the nominated role for your business
- The role must still be genuine and ongoing
- The worker must meet English skills and salary requirements
- This is the most common PR pathway for existing sponsored staff
✅ Ideal for: Civil engineers, tradespeople, project managers, ICT staff, supervisors
Direct Entry Stream
For workers who haven’t held a 482 visa or haven’t worked with you long enough.
- Applicant must have at least 3 years of relevant work experience
- You must demonstrate the role is genuine and needed long-term
- More documentation is typically required upfront
- No need to wait 2 years — direct PR available if criteria are met
✅ Ideal for: New hires already overseas, returning expats, or regional specialists
Labour Agreement Stream
For businesses operating under a Labour Agreement or DAMA.
- Occupation may fall outside the standard Skills in Demand list
- Some concessions apply (English, age, or salary)
- Resource Visa supports Labour Agreement negotiation and PR rollout
✅ Ideal for: Niche, regional, or remote workforce requirements
PR Requirements for Employers
To support a PR visa under the Subclass 186, you must:
- Be an approved Standard Business Sponsor (SBS)
- Offer a genuine, ongoing full-time role
- Show the position meets market salary and occupational requirements
- Provide evidence of the employee’s work history and contribution
Comply with all immigration and Fair Work obligations
